Public Notice – Speed Limit Review

Pembrokeshire County Council will be advertising its intention to introduce:

  • a number of 40mph buffer limits on A, B & heavily trafficked C Class Roads
  • amend minor discrepancies in respect of the position of new 20mph/settlement/terminal signs recently installed
  • introduce a new 30mph limit and an advisory 20mph limit.

The reduced speed limits will be implemented over the lengths of road contained within the schedule of the notice. (Please see attached)

The statutory consultation will commence today, 14th February 2024 and will conclude on the 6th March 2024.

The proposed 40mph buffer limits are to be introduced on the approach to settlements, to support the recently introduced 20mph limits or to provide a short connecting limit between settlements. The intention being to reduce the speed of traffic entering/leaving settlements and result in a smoother transition between the area of national speed limit and the lower limits within the built environments. The proposed minor amendments address adjustments to the limits to accommodate the installation of combined settlement / terminal signs and introduces a 30mph limit and an advisory 20mph limit during the school day in Jeffreyston.
